Learning to Blog / Blogging to Learn

  • blog

I’ve never blogged before.

It’s kind of weird … it’s like talking to yourself.

So, why start now?

I just want to learn stuff. I took the last few years off from doing anything web or design related, and now I’m just starting to get back into it. There’s a lot of things I’ve forgotten or never really knew well to begin with. There’s also a lot of new tech I want to try.

So, I want to learn how to program better, design better, draw better, market better, and so on.

According to SWYX, and Tania Rascia — who I stumbled upon while learning some JavaScript stuff — the best and fastest way to learn is to “Learn in Public”.

Basically, whatever you’re learning, document it in some way. You can choose any creative outlet: write an article/tutorial, draw a comic, create a video, etc. And make it public.

As SWYX put it, “make the thing you wish you had found¬†when you were learning.”

I think that sums it up nicely.

The easiest thing for me to do is write blog posts. So, that’s what I’ll do to start. We’ll see how it goes.

For now, I have created my Learning in Public page to organize everything.

Good luck to me!
